Wedding Vendors

I was actually really stressed about a photographer. As my long-time roommate and one of my closest friends, I loved the thought of using Jennie. However, I also wanted her to be in the wedding. I ended up using her for engagements and bridals and then asked my amazingly talented former-roommate Emily to do the wedding festivities. Both photographers were amazing and we are so pleased with the results!

• Hair
I was really picky with my hair. I just wanted to absolutely love it, I wanted to feel as pretty as possible and I knew that if I didn't love my hair I wouldn't love the way I looked. I searched for weeks for someone affordable and talented. Eventually I resorted to stalking my recently married facebook friends looking for those whose hair I liked best. My friend directed me to Megan, and she was amazing. She is located in Sandy and she charged $55.00 for each time doing my hair. She was really great to work with and understood exactly what I wanted! Email me for her number.

• Eye lashes
A while ago a facebook friend was asking about eyelash extensions and I knew she had really done some hunting to find someone good. So when it came time for me to get my own lashes I knew I could count on her recommendation. The lady who did my lashes is named Sabrina and she was wonderful. She was really nice, has a really flexible schedule, and has so many options. Her facebook page can be found here.

• Socks
Winter wedding means cold. I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and warm for my footwear. After debating an array of options from moccasins to tennis shoes, I decided to wear a good old fashioned pair of boots. In an attempt to make the boots a little more fancy I purchased a pair of turquoise book socks. They were perfect and I loved them.

• Location
Apparently December 14th was the day to have receptions. By the time I got around to calling literally everything was either booked or a couple thousand dollars over the budget. I felt like everywhere I called was telling me that someone had booked them just 30 minutes before I called. After a few stressed out hours of searching I came across the Stone Gate Center for the Arts. The building was beautiful, it fit in budget, it came with tables & linens, and I was sold. The center is located in Pleasant Grove just East of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

• Earrings
I searched Etsy for days looking for the perfect earrings. Yellow gold is not an easy thing to find these days. However, I came across the most beautiful pair of earrings for a super reasonable price. They were shipped quickly, looked exactly as they did in the photo, and were exactly what I wanted. The awesome thing is that the shop owner will send you a free jewelry item if you send her a picture of you wearing her jewelry on your wedding day. I was sent a beautiful pair of earrings that I now wear almost every day.

• Cake
Naturally I found my dream wedding cake on Etsy. I followed a trial of links to the original site only to find that the makers of said cake were located in Florida. Disappointment. In a desperate attempt I set out looking for cake makers in the Provo area who could do a copy of the cake. Luckily I found just the thing. The company is called Urban Cakes and they were amazing. The cake was everything I wanted and it even tasted amazing too.

• Flowers
We had a family friend do the flowers, and they were everything I could ever have dreamed. In fact, I had so much trust in her that I simply told her the color of flowers I wanted and let her do her thing. She did everything perfectly. Go ahead and email me if you'd like her info

• Bridesmaid dresses
My mother-in-law and I decided to take a quick look in Dillards to see if we could get any dress ideas. To say the least, we scored. Perfect dresses, perfect color, perfect fit. She then bought red ribbon to make the sashes.

• Tuxedos
Fact: I think the average tux is really ugly, and so I decided to have Spence wear a suit. But then when we got to Men Wearhouse we found out they don't rent suits . . . shucks. They took us over to look at the tux selection just in case, and it turns out they had some pretty stellar suit-looking tuxes. Score.

• Wedding Dress
I fell in love with the second dress I tried. I went to a little hole-in-the-wall shop in "downtown" Provo and I loved their selection. I tried a few other stores around town but everything had that Mormon cap-sleeve thing I can't stand, and nothing seemed to fit quite right. I kept going back to this dress.

  2. Loved this post!! Especially because I can finally see some of the wedding day photos :) They won't load on the computers over here... neither will photos from my photography blog /: it's annoying. And I'm trying not to be depressed about it. You should probably e-mail me your favorites, or I can try to hang on until I can go to Hebrew U. BahhhhhH!
